About Our Practice

Weil has an unparalleled track record of obtaining antitrust clearance in “bet-the-company” mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

We conduct large-scale, complex antitrust litigation – and win.

This site is published by Weil’s Antitrust/Competition practice, which includes partners, counsel, and associates with experience in Antitrust M&A and Antitrust Litigation. The editors are partners Adam Hemlock and Laura Wilkinson.

Weil’s Antitrust/Competition practice is one of the most-diversified and well-respected in the world, with our partners consistently recognized as leaders in the field for their significant knowledge and experience in handling high profile matters. The practice group’s deep antitrust/competition expertise stems from a unique combination of law firm and public sector experience. Our team has been at the forefront of U.S. merger policy and procedure for many years, and several of our partners are former high-level government antitrust officials. The group also offers significant experience in antitrust class actions and complex commercial litigation, including civil and criminal cases before juries and judges in multiple jurisdictions and is skilled in handling global cartel investigations, dawn raids, and follow on litigation.

We represent clients, including many of the Fortune 100, before the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, and state antitrust enforcement agencies on a full spectrum of M&A, investigative and litigation matters. We also regularly appear before the European Commission and other regulatory bodies in the European Union, Eastern Europe, and Asia.

Weil’s Antitrust/Competition practice is described by Chambers as “an ‘outstanding player,’ [that] has achieved a national and international reputation for the quality of its advice to some of the world’s largest corporations from the healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical device, retail, entertainment, insurance, airline, electronics and defense industries. The practice is split between the firm’s highly rated New York office, praised for its strength in litigation, and Washington, D.C., where transactional and regulatory expertise is the order of the day.”
